Ep 010 The Enlightenment & futuristic writing

Why is there no futuristic writing until the 1800s? Not just sci-fi but ANY writing about what the future might hold? 

Even the closest proximity, Apocalyptic literature, not only talks about the future as part of the current plan of God but also is more a prophetic vision of what the current climate is experiencing than a speculation about what the world might look like in 5000 years.
